CHAPTER 01

Enter Nix

Event

Nix is described by Amazon itself as the biggest region ever added to Throne and Liberty. Far beyond the known lands of Solisium, all communication with the tundra has gone silent — and the Red Mist has begun to spread across the ice.

The expansion's Adventure Codex guides players into the plans of the Syaveana Order and the Arkeum Legion. The Resistance calls adventurers to confront the hidden forces, crossing settlements, frozen ruins and spaces torn open by unstable space-time rifts.

Scale

Biggest region in the game
+ New map
Glaciers, frozen relics, space-time rifts and ruins buried under the snow make up the territory.

Narrative conflict

Syaveana Order × Resistance
+ Quest arc
The Arkeum Legion expands its influence over Nix. The expansion Codex aligns PvE, exploration and PvP around it.

"The frozen tundra of Nix awaits you. On June 25, players will begin a new chapter in Throne and Liberty with The Frozen Divide: Nix. Our biggest expansion yet introduces the enormous new region of Nix, the brutal new Gauntlets weapon, new co-op dungeons, progression to level 60, stronger gear and a dangerous new era of open-world exploration."

  • New settlements, frozen ruins and spaces created by unstable rifts
  • Dangerous enemies and powerful rewards spread across dynamic activities
  • Explicit reward for exploration and spontaneous encounters
CHAPTER 02

The lands of Nix

PvE

Nix is not a single biome. The tundra splits into seven lands with distinct narrative and mechanical purposes — each with its own atmosphere, enemies and activities. This is the mental map worth bringing to day 1.

Tunggir Ruins — A Land of Frozen Legacies. Peaks of black ice driven into what remains of an ancient civilization. A crimson eye pulses among the ruins — a trace of the Marak.
Tunggir Ruins — A Land of Frozen Legacies. Peaks of black ice driven into what remains of an ancient civilization. A crimson eye pulses among the ruins — a trace of the Marak.

How to read the map of the 7 lands

⟡ Tactical read
Bordeland is the heart of open PvP. Scars of Sacrifice anchors the narrative of the Resistance and the mourning over the silence of Nix. Land of Snow is the door to the Marak — expect heavy encounters there. Aeterion connects the expansion to vertical traversal via the Sky Wedge. Snowfield of Chaos is the most likely stage for July's Arch Bosses. Tunggir Ruins holds ancient relics and the first traces of the Marak. Frozen Land of Silence is the epicenter of the collapse — where all communication with Nix went silent.
CHAPTER 03

Cross the Divide

System

Walking on foot can't handle Nix. The expansion introduces two traversal mechanics that transform how you cross the map — for the first time T&L embraces real vertical traversal.

⟡ Sky Wedge

Wingsuit · glide from extreme heights
+ Vertical mobility
Leap from frozen peaks and cross massive distances by gliding. Every high point in Nix becomes a new entry vector.

⟡ Auroral Way

Long-distance aerial route
+ Global shortcut
A route that carries adventurers through the skies of Nix. Connects peaks and valleys without having to cross enemies on the ground.

Why this is bigger than it looks

⟡ Tactical read
Vertical traversal changes how guilds position themselves. The Sky Wedge lets you engage PvP from above — the aerial flank became a tool. The Auroral Way, if shared with PvP, will redefine response time in competitive events. It's not just QoL, it's tactics.
CHAPTER 04

Master the Gauntlets

Build

The expansion's signature weapon is the Gauntlets. Close, aggressive combat, with two stances that switch in real time. The studio classifies it as a Tank/DPS hybrid — something the current weapon wheel doesn't cover well.

Heavy stance

Tank · brute force · resilience
▲ Sustain
Before
Survival
After
Devastating blows

Aggressive stance

DPS · quick combos · claws
▲ Mobility
Before
Pressure
After
Combos with claws

Amazon promised a full deep dive in the week of June 8. I'll update the news as soon as it drops.

  • The Gauntlets' main attribute (Strength? Dexterity? Hybrid?)
  • How stance switching interacts with cooldowns and resources
  • Official synergies with Sword-and-Shield, Daggers and Spear
  • Base kit skills and the specialization tree
  • Where the weapon fits into ranked PvP championships

CHAPTER 05

Dungeons, Level 60 and gear

Dungeon

Two brand-new co-op dungeons arrive at launch, both inside Nix. The level cap rises to 60 and the item system gets a "major evolution" — with more player control over upgrade paths and build customization.

⟡ Progression to 60

  • New level cap: 60
  • Stronger gear to support the next era
  • High-level rewards "even more meaningful"
  • Difficult content scaled for the new cap

⟡ Evolved item system

  • More control over gear progression paths
  • Expanded build customization
  • Path of Ascension also gets improvements
  • A dense QoL package across the progression systems

2 dungeons set in Nix

Co-op · day 1 of the expansion
+ PvE content
Each one with its own encounters, mechanics and rewards. Designed to test groups against the dangers of the territory. Full breakdown promised for the preview in the week of May 25.
CHAPTER 06

More reasons to stay in the world

PvE

Nix was built to encourage players to spend more time in the world itself. The region spreads dynamic events, powerful enemies, competitive conflicts and high-reward opportunities across the open territory — favoring spontaneous encounters.

The housing and lifestyle content also gets improvements, along with QoL to make this layer of the game smoother.

A clear signal for BR guilds

⟡ BR read
Amazon repeats the phrase "spontaneous encounters" twice in the announcement. That's intentional design: less queue, more map. Whoever masters the Nix rotation will become a farming reference in the very first weeks.
CHAPTER 07

Post-launch roadmap

Event

The June 25 launch is just the door. Amazon confirmed a heavy content schedule over the following weeks — Arch Boss, Colossus, a new Battlefield and Castle Siege improvements.

July · Arch Boss

Dragon Knight Ramux
+ End-game boss
New Arch Boss confirmed for July. Codex and Ascended gear tied to Ramux.

July · Dimensional Trials

Iron Tomb Cradle & Glacial Breath Cave
+ Challenge PvE
Two new dimensional trial instances confirmed for July.

July · War Seal (codename)

New Battlefields mode
+ PvP mode
A brand-new Battlefield mode arrives in July. The name is still provisional.

August · Colossus

Terra Boss new to T&L
+ Large-scale PvE
The first Colossus in Throne and Liberty's history. Its own Codex and rewards.

August · Siege of Stoneguard

Castle Siege + Tax Delivery
+ Guild PvP
Improvements to the Stoneguard Castle Siege and an update to Tax Delivery.

Covering each preview with dedicated news. Follow the Journey so you don't miss anything. Exact dates for each drop in July and August haven't been confirmed by Amazon yet — the schedule marks only the month window.

  • Week of May 25: breakdown of the Nix territory + preview of the Colossus and powerful bosses
  • Week of June 1: preview of Nix PvP content
  • Week of June 8: deep dive of the Gauntlets weapon
  • Week of June 15: an overview video showing everything arriving on day 1
CHAPTER 08

Behind the scenes · interview with the PD

System

On the same day as the Western announcement, NCSoft published on the Korean forum (tl.plaync.com) a behind-the-scenes interview between CM Izai and PD Park Geon-su, responsible for the production of Throne and Liberty. The conversation brings context the official announcement left out — proper names, regional dates and a layer of lore that helps you understand what's at stake.

⟡ Regional dates

Before
KR · June 23
After
Global (Amazon) · June 25

⟡ The PD's philosophy

Reduce progression fatigue
+ Heavy QoL
Park Geon-su says the expansion was calibrated to lower the progression step and give players more control. The Path of Ascension (World Tree Guide, in KR) gets improvements.

A familiar face visits — the story begins with the arrival of a known character amid the total silence of Nix. The PD doesn't reveal who.

The Resistance's secret weapon — the adventurer can only set foot in Nix using a weapon hidden by the Resistance. An entry mechanic, not an item.

Marak (마기) — "demonic energy" rises under the ice alongside the ancient ruins. It's the narrative vector of the Red Mist.

Nix's fragile balance is threatened by three simultaneous fronts: ruins, space-time rifts and the Marak. The ancient territories of Solisium also come under threat again — this is not an isolated chapter in Nix.

  • Arch Boss · July — Dragon Knight Ramux (용기사 라무스)
  • Dungeon · July — Iron Tomb Cradle (철묘의 요람)
  • Dungeon · July — Glacial Breath Cave (서리 숨결 동굴)
  • PvP Mode · July — War Seal (봉인전, codename)
  • Colossus · August — Terra Boss (테라 보스)
  • Siege · August — Siege of Stoneguard (스톤가드 공성전)
  • Traversal — Sky Wedge (하늘쐐기) · Auroral Way (미리내)
  • System — Path of Ascension (세계수의 인도)

Direct quote from PD Park Geon-su

⟡ EN translation · tl.plaync.com
"On June 23, the largest-scale expansion in TL's history — The Frozen Divide: Nix — finally arrives for adventurers. With the vast new region of Nix at its center, the cruelly charismatic new Gauntlets weapon, co-op dungeons, the max-level expansion to 60 and completely renewed gear, we open an era of dangerous, impossible-to-ignore open-world exploration." — CM Izai × PD Park Geon-su, 05/20/2026, 08:00 KST. The name Dragon Knight Ramux confirms the Ramux Ascended item that appeared in last week's datamine: datamine and official roadmap are aligned.

⟡ Creator's voice
This announcement is the first big identity step T&L takes on the global line — but it came from NCSoft, not Amazon inventing Westernization. The publisher only delivers the package; the studio that designed the expansion, the name, the weapon and the roadmap is Korean. What caught my attention most wasn't Nix or the Gauntlets — it was level 60 with a "major evolution in the item systems." That's where the expansion will shine or sink. If build customization is real, we enter a new era. If it's just another trophy floor, it becomes more of the same. Gauntlets with stance switching, on paper, is the most interesting combat thing this game has tried. But it all depends on how it will coexist with Sword+Shield and Daggers in PvP. And the Sky Wedge? It could be the item that changes guild war for good.

What changes in practice

KR goes live on June 23, global (including BR) on June 25. Only 48 hours of gap — Korean servers will set the meta narrative, with a short window for BR to react.

For guilds
Start defining now who goes to the Gauntlets and who keeps their current main. Scripting the expansion Codex helps on day 1.
For solo PvP
War Seal (the new Battlefield) arrives in July. Short adaptation window — whoever trains first gets ahead.
For casual players
Level 60 with a reworked item system. Worth holding rare materials before the patch and investing afterward.
