01Why the Assassin starts weak and how to work around it

Below roughly 130k power, with stigmas not yet at level 20 and key skills not at 16/20, the Assassin deals less damage. Next to a well-built class with the same power, it falls slightly behind.

This is a starter guide. The reference character has about 105k power and 2100 GS, with no Divine Temple or Cave clears. Part of the gear came from World Boss.

The golden accessory and mana stones are not a priority right now. They only matter for upgrading items in the long term.

02Active skills and level priorities

The most important ones are the basic attack and Heart Thrust. Heart Thrust depends on the level 16 specialization that resets its cooldown on a critical hit.

Reaching 16 requires arcanas, gear and Daevanion. Until then, keep skills at 12. Some don't even need to reach that level.

One skill at 16 reduces the cooldown of all the others on hit. Without it, use the alternatives that reduce cooldown or restore mana on hit.

The dash is for repositioning. The 10 m range skill only closes the distance to the enemy and stays out of the damage rotation.

03Passives, Questlog presets and macro

The passive priority order is in the Questlog. In general, max out what you can and fill in the rest with gear and other content.

In the Questlog skills section there are farm, PvP and boss presets, with the upgrade priority and macro already set up.

The macro uses two blocks. Start with the basic attacks and use the Insignia burst afterward. Both directions worked about the same.

Step by step
  1. Open the Questlog, go to skills and pick the preset (farm, PvP or boss).
  2. Set up the macro with the basic rotation followed by the Insignia burst.
  3. Hold the basic attack button and the macro button at the same time.

04Stigmas and boss rotation

The two main stigmas were tested at 20 and one performed better. With both at 15 it's already decent.

A stigma that blocks boss damage is very important while you haven't mastered the fight. It's worth getting at least level 5 to use it twice in a row.

Another stigma deals high damage and reduces skill cooldowns, which boosts the damage that follows.

Before the stance break, skills should be on cooldown so they get reduced during the break. That's also when you have extra atk speed, so fit in as much damage as possible there.

Step by step
  1. Activate the stigma buffs and move behind the enemy.
  2. Apply the 30% damage increase.
  3. Hold the macro together with the basic attack, always hitting from behind and blocking when possible.
  4. Hold your buffs to use them during the stance break.
  5. Reuse the buffs after the reduced cooldown.

05Combat meter and performance

On the training dummy, about 1 minute yielded an average of 40k DPS and 2 million total damage. Heart Thrust was the highest-damage skill.

That's why the priority is the basic attack at 16, then Heart Thrust at 16, via arcanas and Daevanion. With the reset from the basic attack, it performs much better.

The Insignia burst accounts for about 35% of the main damage. Animation Cancel and skill resets help. In dungeons, damage was usually above the other DPS and the transcendences went smoothly.

06Daevanion

The goal of Daevanion is to reach the golden points and the key skills, passives included. The passives are what keep damage steady on bosses.

There's no rigid order. Focus first on stigmas, then on the important active skills, and lastly on passives and minor stats.

PvP Daevanion depends on the Abyss and was barely explored.

07Arcanas

Start by synthesizing the starter arcana, the Chalice of Vigor, and pick one skill: Quick Slash or Heart Thrust, not both.

The goal is the 4-piece Primordial Vigor set, which gives +150 attack vs. monsters early on. It can be swapped out in the endgame.

The skills on each arcana are RNG. Prioritize Quick Slash and Heart Thrust to take them to 16 and then 20.

With 2100 GS you can start the Divine Temple and Fierce Horn Cave expeditions.

Step by step
  1. Run the Rite of Ascension on hard difficulty, with at least 4k points, to earn 3 materials.
  2. Get the other 2 materials from the season shop.
  3. Synthesize the Chalice of Vigor.
  4. Choose Quick Slash or Heart Thrust.
  5. Build the 4-piece Primordial Vigor set.

08Stats, Pantheon, wings and pets

Useful stats: critical, rear attack and powerful strike. In the Pantheon, wisdom increases powerful strike and illusion reduces cooldown, which keeps buffs and main skills cycling.

The best early wing is the one with cooldown reduction, from the season shop for about 210k points. The Veil of Darkness Wing gives damage amplification, additional attack and boss resistance.

Pets are a long-term goal and the choices may change. Slot 1: additional or max attack. Slot 2: HP. Slot 3: critical hit or rear critical.

Slot 4 varies: rear attack damage, damage amplification or powerful strike. Slot 7: damage tolerance. Slot 8: HP. Slot 9: critical hit.

09PvP presets and mob-farming presets

The PvP preset is still being tested. Some skills are left out and the macro is different.

The farm preset uses the same skills as PvE but swaps the stigma. The new one resets cooldown on defeating an enemy and changes the area damage.

It also gives a long dash to the next target, which speeds up the grind.
