Privacy Policy — Scaryel Codex Bot
How the Scaryel Codex bot handles data. We follow data minimization: the Bot stores only what is strictly necessary to operate.
In effect since June 19, 2026
1. What data the Bot processes
Server configuration data (stored):
- The Discord server identifier (guild ID);
- The channel identifiers chosen for each alert (YouTube, Twitch, Codex);
- The language preference (Portuguese, English, or Spanish).
2. What the Bot does NOT collect
When the /alerts command is used, Discord tells the Bot the permissions of the person who ran it (to verify they have "Manage Server"). The Bot does not store the identity of who ran the command.
The new-member join event is used only on the official Scaryel server (to assign default alert roles); on third-party servers this event is ignored.
- It does not read or store the content of users’ messages (the Bot does not use the "Message Content" intent);
- It does not collect usernames, emails, IP addresses, or direct messages (DMs);
- It does not build member profiles or track user activity.
3. How we use the data
Solely to operate the service: to know which channel and language to deliver each Scaryel content alert to on your server, and to verify that whoever configures it has permission to do so.
4. Source content
The distributed content (videos, streams, and articles) is obtained from Scaryel’s public sources: YouTube, Twitch, and the Scaryel Codex website (https://scaryel.com). The Bot only reads this public content and reposts it to the configured channels.
5. Storage and retention
Server configuration is stored in a local file on the project’s infrastructure.
Configuration is kept while the Bot is in the server. When the Bot is removed from a server, that server’s configuration is deleted. You can also disable alerts individually via /alerts.
6. Sharing
We do not sell or share configuration data with third parties. Operation relies on the Discord platform (where the Bot runs) and on publicly reading the source platforms (YouTube, Twitch, scaryel.com). Use of Discord is governed by Discord’s own privacy policy.
7. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect configuration data. Because the volume and nature of the data are minimal (only server/channel identifiers and language), exposure is inherently low. No system is 100% secure.
8. Your rights (LGPD / GDPR)
You may request access, correction, or deletion of your server’s configuration data. The simplest way to delete it is to remove the Bot from the server, which erases the corresponding configuration.
For other requests, reach us on the community Discord server: https://discord.gg/8A74hMkVPj. We process data in compliance with Brazil’s Law No. 13,709/2018 (LGPD) and, where applicable, the GDPR.
9. Children
The Bot is intended for use within Discord and follows the platform’s minimum age requirements. We do not knowingly collect data from children below the required minimum age.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version is always available at https://scaryel.com, with the "Last updated" date.
